WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A weekend incident with racial overtones at a high school for deaf students could result in criminal charges with "enhanced penalties for a hate crime," Metro Police Chief Cathy Lanier said Wednesday. A black student was held against his will and then released with "KKK" and swastikas drawn on him in marker at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf on Sunday, she said. No charges have been filed, and no names have been released, Lanier added. The school is a residential high school on the campus of Gallaudet University, a higher education facility in Washington for deaf and hard of hearing people. The groups had named themselves "Nazi" and "Black KKK." Sounds like a fantastic game. How glad I am that I don't live in a dormitory. The two groups separated, Lanier said, but later, six white students and one black student took another of the black students into a dorm room and "held him there against his will."
"During the course of that time they had him held, they used markers to write 'KKK' and draw swastikas on the student," she said. I'd say these guys have an ass whippin comin to em, but felony prosecution is a little severe for this case. |

You know one thing about "people" like this is they pump themselves up, they have daydreams of being in the UFC, they all round think they're really tough, and yet they always gang up 4-5 to one, pick on the crippled, the poor, the homeless, the elderly.....and now the blind or deaf?
Could put these people to better use by paving road with them.

Right, they grabbed the guy while he was by himself. But I was under the impression that all involved were deaf. |

I'd say there's a case for assault if the guy wanted to press charges. I'd be tempted to kick some ass, but no doubt that would be a bad idea. The smart thing to to would be to prank them super duper hard. It seems like they were all friends, at least to some degree. It would be a shame to ruin that, and have bad blood over some bad decisions and poor understanding of the symbols they were using. I'm not saying the situation is good, but it looks like the violence and hate that came to my mind when reading the headline aren't as they first appeared. |
