nice shot...ouch

The Bush admin isn't going to happy at this, but its not really a Bush thing....Its an American thing.  Every admin since the the Korean war has had the opportunity to end the war.  The Korean leader had the opportunity to take a shot at Bush for his own political reason...and it prolly helped his domestic support too.

cute how this stuff plays out sometimes.

well, I'll explain it to you

The Korean president (or PM) asked Bush when will he end the war with NK.  Technically we are still at war with a extending cease fire.

Bush side stepped the question...then the Korean pres asked him again and specifically asked for a straight answer.  Bush side stepped again and looked pretty pissed off for about 5 seconds.

then they both laughed and shook hands...<<sigh>> politicians.

Do the South Koreans view the situation as being so precarious that war could occur at any time? How significant an issue is this in the country?

I doubt they think its very serious. Afterall there are hundreds of thousands of US land mines between them and the North Koreans.

If they ever do start to really worry, it will be when the US pulls out of the region.

The only thing South Koreans are interested in is unification, period. Everything it does is done is to make that possible. This will be at odds with the US, but when your relatives are trapped behind a DMZ, priorities is to reunite with your family, first. This is also important for national healing from the fallout of WWII.
