Neither of these prove that say, the democrats would rather burn it than fly it. You came up with some anecdotal evidence. Good for you. Didn't come close to backing your claim though. Nor to proving that free is a dem. Kinda what I thought.

Let me rephrase...all liberals aren't flag burners but all flag burners are liberals. Any time you see someone wanting to ban patriotic symbols, guess who...
If you have an example of a conservative group doing similar, please share.

We will keep this in mind next time some makes some 'wild claims' about conservatives that they can't back up. Wait until the Dems take fire off of each other and focus like a laser beam on Republicans. You'll hear them multiple times a day. |

It only makes sense that someone who doesn't want to trample the bill of rights by banning certain activities, must be participating in those activities.
And I guess it goes without saying why it is most Republicans don't want a ban on words like b**** or n*****.

To be fair, though, it's not like he's signing a real flag with any stitching. It's one of those tiny cheap ones...  So, now symbols are only important if they are done up all nice, with stitching? What about if they are real nice with stitching but made in China? Would it have been okay then, too? UHHhuh FreeinTX I think you're kidding, but I'm not sure. So when there's American flag symbols all over the newspaper around the 4th of July, do you carefully forever preserve the paper or do you throw it away (or recycle it)? It's all dependent upon the material and craftsmanship of the flag. The one I put out is big and the stars are stitched thread, not just printed. Also, on the subject of flag burning, I thought that's what you're supposed to do with a flag once it's reached the end of it's lifespan. |

It is, members of the American Legion will often be the ones to put the flag to rest properly. They consider it an honor, and they bring honor to us as Americans when they do it. That fact is problematic for those who want to criminalize flag burning (as a protest). It means that to ban undesirable flag burning, we must legislate someone's expression of an idea, not their actions. As to the newspaper, I think it is entirely inappropriate to be using the flag as a repeated miniature image for a publication layout. Especially on something as disposable as newspaper. It is our national symbol, not a 4th of July decoration. IMO, it should not be printed on bumper stickers, t-shirts, or most other things you're likely to see it on either. |
