A boat, costing $4.5 million, sets unwanted in Seattle. According to The Seattle Times, political earmarking got the boat built and the Navy could not use and gave it to the University of Washington which didn't want it either. Follow the money as they say!

What the hell? I go to a Maritime college and we are ALWAYS looking for new boats. WE could use this thing. We even have a NROTC program.

Hey NAVY? Where's the love?

Either you repeat the same conventional doctrines everybody is saying, or else you say something true, and it will sound like its from Neptune.

Frustrating as hell. Contact your congressman or congresswoman, maybe they can appropriate it for your school.

And the sheeple will continue to argue over which party is more evil, while all thinking people have realized both parties have sold out the people they are supposed to represent.

Too bad we don't have more thinking people in America.

The USA HAS THE BEST GOVERNMENT MONEY CAN BUY.

A strong third party is long overdue.

But no third party has a chance.

Just ask anyone.

I hear it all the time, so it must be true.

It never ceases to amaze me, how many people can be manipulated so easily.

A great example was the assault weapons ban. While talking to people about that topic I had several dozen people parrot back a single soundbite I hear numerous times from the mass media.

Soundbite: The founding fathers could never have imagined assault rifles.

Too many people have allowed the media to tell us what we CAN and CAN'T do. WE CAN HAVE A THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE, all we have to do is want it bad enough.

The choice is ours. We can continue to vote for two parties that allow millions in campaign donations and lobbying, while spending our money like drunken sailors.

Some generation is going to have to pay for the national debt. It seems no one gives a flying crap, as long as it isn't "their" generation.

Government waste, fraud and mismanagement is out of control. Lobbying is out of control. Campaign finance is out of control.

But we just bend over and take it.

Perhaps. Perhaps a new day will dawn.

Third party candidates have a chance, just not a good one, since the overwhelming majority of people blindly follow one party or the other, exclusively.

That is changing. Once those swing voters realize their power, it will make more of a difference.

That said, earmarks are huge problem - but the common answer, a line item veto, is an answer worse than the problem.

I think we need to limit executive power these days, not expand it. THe real shame is Congress loves earmarks and proudly trumpet them at home and the people at home love them, as long as they are of local benefit.
