Different eyes can see things differently.

there are at least 50 million Russians who consider Pooting the Saviour. Just when the Chechens, the olygarchs and the mafia were ripping the goodold Mother apart, Vladimir Vladimirovich dashed through the smoke on the white horse, in a white kimono, and put the bastards to the graves and to the prison cells. The reality is more smart-assed than this, but people like simple coherent images. There are also at least 10 million Russians who consider VVP a non-repentent KGB enemy of freedom, the usurpator who was lucky to yield the results of a decade of economic reforms and high oil prices. So living in Russia does not automatically supply one with any clue of what's goin on. The words which will go with Poo-teen in any case are: opportunistic, pragmatic, self-disciplined, cautious, collectivity-oriented, controlling, suspicious.

The words I would use are Defender of Holy Mother Russia.

Defender of Holy Mother Russia

who are the Attackers? Under the slogan of defending Mother Rossiya so many people were trampled into mud and blood, and they didn't even want to have anything common with Russia. I mean centuries of the Russian history. U know, it is very easy to beging conflating your personal power lust with the national interest in this business of defending sanctities. Understanding criticism of the government as national treason.

Attackers? How about international bankers and multinational corporations?

inter-multi? What did they own in Russia in the 90s? Oil was in the hands of Russian companies. Gas was controlled by Gazprom, the state monopolist. Metallurgie controlled by Russian holdings. Media controlled by Russian olygarchs. Banking system controlled by Russian private bankers and the state. Foreign policy stiffly controlled by Great-Russia crowd; they just couldn't do much while Russia was in debt to the West. There were some investments of Western capital; hardly enough to speak about an "attack" of multinationals on Mother Russia.

Perhaps it is not a case of what they have but what they want.

perhaps this theme of multinational people taking all over is a bit overhyped. One of those gadgets that explain the world only insofar as facts are not called out.
