In 1996, I read the book after seeing the movie and after that got a little obsessed with dinosaurs in general. There's something very fascinating about animals that have gone extinct.
I was watching something on NAT GEO a few days ago about the T-Rex. They were saying that it's not much of a predator because with those almost nonexistant forearms it would have fallen and broken its jaw if it were to run or chase anything, but that it was a hell of a scavenger. Kind of like a bear, it had a great nose and a good size, so it would seek out dead or dying animals to eat. The other thing was that we haven't really found any juvenile T-Rex bones until recently, except that it isn't an actual T-Rex, it's a cousin species.
I understood that the point of the concept of Jurassic Park is that while science can create miracles, the creation can destroy the creator. And the other one is that "life finds a way". Though the book was a bit different because a lot more people died and there were other dinosaurs not shown in the movie.
But yeah I would go.

Definately, and I'd make sure my Tyro/Raptor hunting license was paid up. Licenses aren't gonna help you much. You do remember what happened when they tried to hunt dinosaurs in the second movie, right? |

Also, I've been told it wouldn't work because the system is an uncontrolled environment. Near the end of the first movie they did get the power back on, but the animals already got loose. And if Nedry hadn't hacked and shut down the system to get embryoes it might've gone better.

Classic case of the book being better than the movie, not that the movie was bad. I thought it was a good read. Yes I would definitely go. I would just wait until it had been open for a while, and the park returned many uneaten guests back to the mainland. |

That is the problem. You have this huge theme park set up to make money to support the science of the park, with gates that must confine huge beasts, but be usable and supportable by men and their machines (and electricity). How can you guarantee that none of the men or women you employ become greedy and or are spies for some other scientific organization? You can't. That's one of the ultimate failures of the project, the greed of a human being. And besides that, what if the electricity fails on it's own, without Nedry turning the system off? You can't. There's too many what ifs. The second and third movies are based on the fact that Isla Nublar wasn't the main island, it was the destination for the dinosaurs and the theme park. There was another island, Isla Sorna, where they were created and also turned on their creators, it was less of a theme park and more of a facility. |

I'm against dinosaurs, I prefer fury and cuddling animals. I would like to see the return of lions to Europe (extinct since 100 AD).
