Quote
SCRANTON, Pa. - A Scranton woman who admitted shouted profanities at her overflowing toilet within earshot of a neighbor was cited for disorderly conduct, authorities said.

Dawn Herb could face up to 90 days in jail and a fine of up to $300.

“It doesn’t make any sense. I was in my house. It’s not like I was outside or drunk,” Herb told The Times-Tribune of Scranton. “The toilet was overflowing and leaking down into the kitchen and I was yelling (for my daughter) to get the mop.”

Herb doesn’t recall exactly what she said, but she admitted letting more than a few choice words fly near an open bathroom window Thursday night.

Words cannot express how bullshit this case is. She wasn't hurting anybody so therefore it wasn't anyone else's business, especially someone who doesn't live with her.

WTF is wrong with people?

Who calls the cops because their neighbor curses when something shitty happens?

It WAS an overflowing toilet after all.

What if you curse at someone in your car, and they can read lips?  Would this also be 'disorderly conduct'?

Pun fully intended.

Makes you wonder exactly what the offending words were.

When it comes to this person, I'll use the words of George Carlin (don't read if easily offended): fuck him in the asshole with a big rubber dick. Then break it off and beat him with the rest of it.

Well her neighbour was the cop. That is what caused the trouble. Her told her to keep the abuse down, she abused him, and so it went.Abusing a policeman is not great politics.

I agree though that this is a ridiculous case, and political correctness and over policing gone mad.

BTW, is her toilet and bathroom typical of some houses? Interesting colour scheme. Undecided

You'd be surprised at the kind of dumb crap people decorate their bathrooms with around here.

I guess you got a point about getting into it with the cop neighbor though.

Still, seems a bit absurd. Obviously the woman was having a bad night. Cop neighbors can be annoying. My dad lives next door to a cop, and one time when I was home, a friend stopped by to show me his new rifle. It was a nice day, so we were out at his truck looking at it when the cop neighbor rolled by.

He started giving me flack about having a firearm in my own yard. I had some choice words for him, but I bit my tongue and kindly reminded him of where he was and what our constitution had to say about the issue. It isn't a good idea to be hostile with the neighbors. Even if they're a cop on a power trip.

Cop neighbors can be annoying.

Yep, I can imagine it would be. You would become paranoid about every little thing, having up to date car registration, not littering the pavement, not having loud music etc.

The one worse than that would be a tax officer. You have a party with loud music and the next day you get called for a tax audit. At least the policeman next door would reduce the risk of your house being burgled. I can't think of many pluses of having a tax officer next door.

So much for installing that stone on the exterior walls.

I think I'd definitely be going for the under budget look on the exterior.

If you're gonna have a cop as a neighbor maybe they should get out there and solve some real problems, like those guys who stand on the corner plotting whose house to break into.

Crikey. I can't believe that you can get done for cursing over there?
I'd be well screwed in the US. That said, I would pay that cop back in my own little neighbour from hell way.
