The speed of Olmert's visit to Moscow indicates that something very significant is under way.

Or is it just a sheer desperation by Olmert to steer Putin away from his promises to Ahmadienejad?

He is also planning to visit China to build up support against Iran.

Iran has the 2nd largest untapped natural gas reserve, and the 2nd largest oil reserve. Roseneft, Yukos and Gazprom are already in bed with the iranians. Russian defense contractors' main customers are the mullahs, billions of dollars are flowing to moscow and employing alot of russkies. I wonder what Olmert has to offer? I was thinking maybe the bankers would offer to invest heavily in Russia, and in return putin would bend over. But would the bankers trust putin not to nationalize their assets? What about Ukraine, would the bankers agree to sell it back to Moscow? missile defense?? A very interesting auction might take place in moscow.
