My food aversions would tend more toward eating certain parts of animals than to eating certain animals. If someone gave a stew with some chopped up dog or horse meat, I'd eat it. If it was dog brains, uh, no thanks. Also, I don't like eating animals that look like they did when alive. I could never eat those cooked-whole hamster-like things they eat in Peru. No thanks.
I've only eaten a few of the more rare (from a US perspective) meats. Bison is awesome, as is elk. Alligator was kind of bland. Kangaroo is very chewy. I love sushi, so there's probably not a sushi-able sea creature I haven't eaten raw.
The hamster thing is called a guinea pig and although it is a bit unnerving when the plate is brought out it is very tasty, though I just couldn't stop laughing. |

No one had mentioned insects. I figure if anyone had an experience at all, I would want to know about it.
I don't consider myself that adventurous.
Big insects taste kinda like crab or lobsters, considering those are basically just bugs of the sea. I've had chocolate covered crickets, too, only they just taste like salt. One of the wierder thing's I've eaten was pure, fresh out of solution DNA. We did a lab in bio involving the extraction of DNA from onion (the result was a weird stringy substance that looked like spit or cotton suspended in water), and I decided to do my part for science and see how it tastes. It's bitter, although that might've been the enzymes and ethanol. |

i won't eat dog but i don't see any difference between eating dog or cow,,, i would even recommend to settle neighborhood with foreign workers from Philippines or Korea if you have many homeless cats and dogs around ,,,
Funny you say that. When there was a huge influx of Vietnamese refugees in the 1970's, the stray cat population decreased significantly. I think we are the only country that eats our coat of arms, the Kangaroo. Kangaroo is really nice, and it is healthy for you too. Most heart specialists tell you to eat it in preference to steak. Kangaroo is low in fat. You can also eat Crocodile at Australian restaurants but that is a lot more expensive than Kangaroo. |

Off the north west coast of Africa. Perhaps one of the most important fishing areas in the world. Spain is also the first world consumer of fresh fish. I cooked an octopus yesterday at home. I'm gonna prepare it for tonight dinner. Raw Onions, raw green and red pepper, a bit of salt, vinegar and Spanish olive oil -probably the best in the world- and that's it. Saludos

Octopus, eww...I was on a beach in Mexico and this fishing boat pulled out of the water. The boys took this little octopus out of the boat and llet me see it and touch it. Then they threw it in a bowl with some veg and salsa and pumelled it to death right in front of me.  First guy who came along, they sold it to him and he went walking off eating the little thing...  |
