In an effort to maintain a mature and civil atmosphere in which to discuss opinions on religion and philosophy, I and the other Moderators here will be a little more "hands on" with regard to uncivil, immature, demeaning, belittling behavior.

Much discussion has gone on "behind the scenes" in the moderator forum with regards how to handle this.

I have hesitated to act on things I have found to be uncivil, immature, demeaning and belittling behavior because a "line" so to speak is difficult to draw, and I was also unsure of the support I would get from Admin on trying to really put a stop to it.

I have assurances from Admin they will support my effort to bring civility and maturity back to this corner of the forum.

Some of the behaviors toward one another that have been given a "pass" will no longer be given a "pass"...

Calling someone an "idiot" for believing in God or calling someone an "idiot" because they are an atheist is just plain rude and uncivil, and solves nothing.

If you cannot make your point without demeaning anothers beliefs, then I suggest ignoring the post...

If you find fault or disagree with an individual simply state why you disagree or demonstrate why you disagree with a civil, mature and cogent reply.

I strive for fairness and consistency, and during this process will be clear on why a particular warning was given or a post deleted.

Repetitive violations of warnings or inability to change ones ways will be passed to Admin for Suspension/Ban.

I believe we have very intelligent and mature individuals here who can express opinions without being rude, inconsiderate, demeaning and immature.

Feel free to PM me with regards to questions and or concerns.

My goal is to encourage free expression of ideas and opinions, differing and respectful dissents as adults in a similar setting as a formal dinner with the Queen of England present.

I believe we can do this.

Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base. All men are afraid in battle. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Duty is the essence of manhood

miscategorized?

we have had many problems at IAP 1.0 with members following the rules of conduct when posting.  So we have stressed the point in this forum more so than any other.  We are here to discuss the issues not to convert people and call them names for having different beliefs.
