Dr. James Watson, distinguished scientist who dared delve into the verboten territory of race, has been driven to retirement for his heresy. Steve Sailer, an honest and outspoken writer, tells the sad story of another victim of cultural marxism. From VDARE.com.

Watson stepped over the top by saying something he didn't KNEW nor PROVE.... aka "prejudice".

And actually if he's a stupid ass enough to be caught as a racist because of a topic as "racial itnelligence", he really deserves being removed. you know, being a briliant biochemist doens't turns you into a gneius ine verything... and being caught about "racial inteligence" is about as stupid as a racist can go.

Just for the record... we DO NOT KNOW what is inteligence; we DO NOT KNOW wether it can be measured or don't; we DO NOT KNOW wether it makes sense at all to "compare" "inteligence" between individuals; and we DO NOT KNOW wether it makes any sense at all to "compare" "inteligence" between sets of individuals. As far as we know, neither inteligence tests nor comparison of inteligence are close to be Science, rather they usually are pseudoscience.

Slip the melodrakma. If you're a scientist, your reputaiton is dependant upon your sicentific opinions. Racial intelligence is not Science, rather racism. And racism is not tolerated, even less from a prominent figure which may be mistaken for an auhtporized source.

Watson does not know what he talks about, can't prove it, and so it's not science. It's bullshit and it's racist, and he deserves whatever he gets for being a racist.

Understood. You believe in the suppression of thought. At least you are honest about it. The establishment uber alles!

Supression of thought? No, no, no... Watson has been removed some privileges he had, but his rights are intact, nonetheless. He's free to speak out publicy. He can give lectures, write articles and do what he pleases. What he has lost is the prestige and privilege inherent to do so as a respected scientist from a respected scientific establishment. But that was a privilege, not a right... and whoever hands out a privilege can call it back.

Technically perhaps. Still, after this, think anyone else will speak their mind on forbidden subjects? One has one's doubts. The same thing happened to Shockley and other brave dissidents.

I'm curious what atrocities the racial equality inquisitors have committed. Is the bodycount up to even double digits yet? Anything worse than refraining from supporting or associating with those who hold a different bias than themselves? In point of fact if a few people with strong racial ideas formed a little closed society of only themselves no one would care. Look at the east 3/4 of Oregon or Washington and anything but the cities of Idaho.

You are confusing free association of like minded people with having one's career ended because of one's opinions. There is a bit of difference between the scientific and academic communities and the backwoods of the Great Northwest.

Materialists and reductionist scientists including most Darwinists and certainly Dr. Watson and at least some of those who "retired" him would disagree with you.  They would cite Methodological Materialism and then agree that all characteristics of life are genetically and environmentally based.  They would indeed concur with Watson were it not perceived as being racist, would they not?

"Racist" is the catchall phrase of cultural marxists to destroy those they oppose. The phrase has virtually become meaningless.

Pat Buchanan, who has felt the wrath of our Frankfurt School cultural marxist power structure on more than one occasion, comes to the defense of the beleaguered Dr. Watson. From VDARE.com.

There are some guidelines that should be adhered to in making public statements. I don't want to deny anyone their own personal view of things, but people who walk around presenting themselves a Dr. so and so have little higher standard to keep. People who expect to be taken seriously about being geneticists shouldn't make  unsupported racist claims.

This isn't about the "establishment" not liking Dr. Watson's science, because the statements he is being ridiculed for were decidedly unscientific. It is not the statistics or scores he presents, it is him using them in an unscientific manner along presentation of stereotypes that is scientifically lacking.

Jumping to conclusions regarding causality and ignoring the possibility of extraneous variables is wholly unscientific.

The undeniable fact remains that Dr. Watson lost his job for stating his opinion. Plain and simple. You might say "Elementary my dear Watson"! Wink

What is unfortunate is that many of those who "retired" him accept the very redutionist principles that his viewpoint is derived from.  His ideas about connection between genetics and intelligence flow directly from the Darwinian notion that we are a product of material processes.  As you imply the connection is very weak.
