Karen Hughes To Leave State Department
Hello! It is said in this article that Karen Hughes is to leave the government at the end of the year quitting her job as undersecretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs. Maybe I misunderstand something but I always thought she was doing her job well, which I cannot say about Condoleezza Rice, for example. However, Rice is staying when Hughes is gone. You know, that's killing me. That's unfair! That bitch Condi should be quitting instead of Hughes because it is thanks to Rice (not Karen!) that our boys died in thousands in Afgha and Iraq! As I see it, they chose Karen Hughes to be a scapegoat who would take upon herself all the criticism destined for the Secretary of State! How cursedly! Condi, you are a cunning dog! That's you who should have handed in resignation and acknowledge you are a non-pro!

How is that Ms. Rice's fault? If we are laying blame, then it belongs at the feet of Bush, I would think.

I don't like Condi. I can't quite put my finger on it... but I think she's all to happy doing EXACTLY what Bush says... even if it's not the best  idea.

It's one thing to "serve at the pleasure of the president"... but it's quite another to service  him... if you catch my meaning.

Hughes is as worthless a sack of fecal loaf as I have ever seen.

What is so great about Karen Hughes, other than her affinity to GOP ball sweat?

Pretty strong stuff. I could easier see that kind of anger pointed at Rove.

I don't note were the article implies Hughes is taking a fall for Rice.
It's a PR position.

It doesn't really say much of substance.  It reads like you said, like a PR piece.  Have to say though that her job is one of those odd ones.  You can say they don't view us any better than they did, but without these efforts, would we be worse?  There is no real way to know.

I don't disagree, Biker.

The level of disgust Toaster voiced lead me to believe her dubious actions
would be easy to spot.

Not that I feel any sympathy for Karen Hughes, but she had a pretty impossible job.  If you liken her job to being a car salesman, you can't blame her for dismal results when the only thing her boss produces are Edsels.

LOL!!! Yeah, to hear you nuts talk, you'd think we are back in the lean years of Jimmy Carter.

I guess anything repeated often enough...

Are you saying that the US's international standing and diplomatic power under Condi Rice are better than under Cyrus Vance or Ed Muskie?  Talk about having (pro-)Bush Derangement Syndrome.

You know that scene in "Coming To America" where Eddie Murphy makes his wife-to-be bark like a dog? That's what Rice is.

As Secretary of State in the Carter administration, Vance pushed for negotiations and economic ties with the Soviet Union and clashed frequently with the more hawkish National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski. Vance tried to advance arms limitations by working on the SALT II agreement with Russia, which he saw as the central diplomatic issue of the time. He was heavily instrumental in Carter's decision to return the Canal Zone to Panama and in the Camp David Accords agreement between Israel and Egypt.

And that doesn't even bring up the hostage fiasco.

Yeah, he was a real gem.

Sadly, as low a bar as the Carter administration set, this set of Bush clowns can't even get over it.
