In case you needed further evidence, here's this:

Quote
Two hugs equals two days of detention for 13-year-old Megan Coulter.

The eighth-grader was punished for violating a school policy banning public displays of affection when she hugged two friends Friday.

District Superintendent Sam McGowen said that he thinks the penalty is fair and that administrators in the school east of St. Louis were following policy in the student handbook.

It states: “Displays of affection should not occur on the school campus at any time. It is in poor taste, reflects poor judgment, and brings discredit to the school and to the persons involved.”

This is something I see everywhere I go. While the rule, I'm sure, was put in with good intentions, obviously it does more harm than good. Expect future generations to not take adults seriously if more of this happens. It's just stupid.

Haha wow, that's messed up. I'm sure it was more meant towards the unnecessary make out sessions in the halls of high schools.

Idiocy is idiocy. I don't care how good the intentions were, this is retarded.

Obviously. Which means that this group of adults (teachers!), cannot tell the difference between a hug goodbye and two teenagers sucking toungue before 4th period.

These are our kids' teachers, folks.

I've run into this at my son's school.  While they won't get a suspension over it, they will get yelled at for simply holding hands, and a detention for a basic kiss.  And he just happens to have four girls following him.  I've gone to bat for him on these, and it's tough.  Specially since his mom is more of a fundamental religous person, and tends to think 15 is too young for this anyway...

Usually, I chalk these stories up to an isolated incident that somehow found its way to the back pages, but I know this happens all the time. Seen it myself when I was at school.

My school was pretty lax on the restrictions. A peck or whatever was fine. But if you were blatantly making out they'd call you on it.

I'd be more concerned about how trashy some of the youngins look now and days.... Look like god damn street walkers.

Well, there was definitely a dress code at his school.  That is pretty common around here, even for public schools.  How strict is open however.

Common sense is dead. Whether this particular story is accurate, or not, is a moot point. There are plenty of other examples.

I am sure most people remember the stories of kindergartners getting in huge trouble for drawing a picture of a gun, or pointing their finger and saying "bang", or the show stopper, a kid getting suspended over a cocktail sword.

I just don't get it. How can so many people not have a shred of common sense?

I've been to schools that would give you a detention for holding hands and hugging...and that was back in the late 90s.  This is nothing new and i don't know why its such a big deal...If its like the second grader in the Chicago suburbs then I can understand the hype, but the school isn't the place for PDA.  If you are going to do it, then its a risk you take.

and whoopty doo...a detention.

Political correctness and purity is getting to the point of nazism in schools and even in this country. This situation is simply ridiculous and shows that just about every aspect of society today is run by morons and the incompetent.

That's what drives me mad about American... they yell out loud against taxes, gun control and the Government, but let this things be done impunely to their children without as much as a second thought, let alone apply common sense. Angry

And probably the same fuckturds proposing, writing and enforcing this rules will have the balls to claim it's wrong if Muslim girls cover their hair with a kerchief... Roll Eyes
