Movies are only scary when you're 5 years old and afraid of the dark.

No movies are scary anymore.

They are if you give yourself over. I see no purpose in watching movies simply to watch them, I like to pretend it's real and get all into it. I like to experience being scared while watching horror movies and feel sad during romance movies and all that stuff. It's a lot more enjoyable.

Awww.  Exactly!  What's the point of watching movies, if you don;t get into it?

Sorry.  Forgot to grin.  Grin

But yeah, I agree.  Some people just don't know how to suspend disbelief.  It's why people who don't like sci fi are no fun.  Bad speacial FX is a better example.

Even prentending it's real isn't scary man. It's to far fetched to scare.
I still watch horror movies. I enjoy watching movies. But gimmie a break... I don't think that by playing an Xbox game I'm suddenly going to die (what was that horrible movie called?).

You mean, when you watch a movie like the Exorcist, you can't put yourself in a state where you forget it's a movie altogether and just live in the moment? That's gotta suck.

I make it scary. I can also make Dracula, Frankenstein, Children of the Corn, and everything else scary because I choose to be.

You're just no fun.

The horror of the exorcist isn't the girl, it's what the mother is going through. To have a demon possess your child has got to be one of the worst things ever. You can't do anything about it. The demon has invaded your child's body, so you can't hurt your child physically, and here the demon is just literally demolishing her body slowly. It's very horrific from the parental point of view.

The biggest scare I ever had watching a movie was watching the original Jaws at a theatre back in 1975. When the head popped through the portal on the sunken boat. That scared the hell out of the entire audience!

You can't make it scary. Movies like the above are comedy.
