I wanted to post these in the humor section, because there isn't really a reason to debate them. I just found them quite funny, if not a bit sad. I find it odd the Republicans had a different message when Clinton was President:

Good post Perrin. It's your topic, but I'd say it'd be a good one for US politics. It does a nice job at pointing out Republican hypocrisy. Makes you realise how easily people will turn on a dime for political reasons.

I'm too lazy to do it, but some one should post the democrat's rhetoric of the same period. I wouldn't bet strongly on consistency.
Why does it always come down to this? One side can't ever say 'Oh yeah, that's fucked up', it's always 'look! They do it too!' Exception: Totino. |

In this case, the point of the post is Irony with a humurous undertone. The post makes the comparison to the Repubes of today and thier current rhetoric and those of "yesterday" and the rhetoric they spewed then. it is a fair comparison the same as it is fair to say "Ok so this is so but what was the opposition saying then compared to now?" |

It is also a fairly obvious attempt to soften the 'blow' by pointing out the oppositions missteps.
I used to do it with my parents when I was growing up. 'Come on Ma, brother did worse!' I attempt to avoid it in my life these days.

Had I taken a minute longer to think of a title for this thread, I would have created one that was less aimed at any particular political group. Opmod hit the nail on the head with his observation about this thread. Irony with a humorous undertone is a great way to put it. If a Mod is around and can change the thread titles, I think a better name for this thread should be Humorous Political Hypocrisy, then examples from all political leaning would be more welcome. |
