Topic: Ads on forum

I need a way to generate revenue from IAP in order to pay for it's maintenance, hosting, etc.

I've thought about a minimal membership fee (ie: $1 to join)
I've thought about adding a few link ads (adsense) near the submit buttons when posting a new topic or replying to one.
I've thought about adding adsense ads in between posts.

Re: Ads on forum

I don't like your voting options.  I don't think paying a $1 is a good idea.  Although I would be willing to pay, I don't know if any current (or future) members would be able to do this.

Ads would be the next best option, but having them intrude during the posting process would be a bad idea.

Ad sense ads, IMO, between posts is the only viable option.

Would you receive ad revenue through clicks or subscription? If its the former you may have an issue but if it is the latter your golden.  I am sure no one here would complain unless it became too obtrusive.

I love that a $1 lifetime membership is out of the question smile

I did say I would be willing to pay.   wink

Re: Ads on forum

Yes, you did smile

Assuming all things consistent with how the forum is now -- is there anything you would potentially want for this theoretical $1?

I could make a Paid Member group for starters, a private forum, 100+ karma points smile

I think people would pay $1 just for the 100 karma points.

Re: Ads on forum

I have no problem paying a membership fee, but we can kiss away future members from ever joining up.

Ad space is the way to go IMO

Re: Ads on forum

neorealist, the $1 membership would be voluntary.

I do. I'm not sure how to do it. We don't all live in the states, remember?

Sorry chovy, but I think it's impossible to do it from Lebanon  neutral

Re: Ads on forum

PayPal accepts credit cards, or if you have an account. Not sure if Lebanon is supported or not yet (currency).

Re: Ads on forum

Ok, Chovy but how much do you hope to gather with volontary $1 life membership? $10 per year? It's a little bit ludicruous.

As for adds, do as you deem best. Adds are everywhere anyway.

Re: Ads on forum

Your audience is driven by a need to engage their minds. Certain adds would appeal to an audience of this sort more than any other. Amazon for example sells books at its site. It is one retailer that should be on your site.
