Topic: Posting Rules

Posting Rules:

1. Cultural/national/religious bigotry and hate-speech, racism, excessively derogatory remarks and advocating violence will not be tolerated.
Posts violating this rule will be edited or deleted at the moderators' discretion. Repeat offenders will be suspended or banned at the administrator’s discretion. Nazi and other hate group postings will not be tolerated this includes the symbols commonly associated with them.

Examples:
Unacceptable: Muslims are Evil.
Acceptable: Muslim Terrorists are Evil.

Unacceptable: People should kill US troops in Iraq.
Acceptable: I have no pity for troops killed in Iraq.

2. No spam
Spam includes links to commercial sites, along with other forms of mass distributed posts. Under certain circumstances posts that are found to be distributed to multiple sites may be tolerated at the discretion of the administrators if they are politically informative in nature and deemed to be of positive relevance to the forum members.

3. No colored posts
Use color only to illustrate a point (hint: your whole post does not count as a point)

4. No double posts
Do not post the same thread in more than one category (this qualifies as "spam")

5. No porn or mutilated bodies
All pictures should be work safe. It is the responsibility of the poster to mark any link to a picture that could be considered inappropriate to be viewed at any place of employment with a warning such as IMAGE NOT WORKSAFE, or IMAGE MAY NOT BE WORKSAFE.

6. No posting in ALL CAPS or oversized letters
It may simply be trashed without explanation. This includes subjects as well as posts. All caps imply yelling as do excessively large fonts which also make points look like they are being argued by second graders. There really is no reason to go larger than 16 or 18 to emphasize a part of a post. You will be asked to change the size, and your compliance is expected.

7. Make a point and expect to discuss it.
This is a message board/discussion forum, not a space for free advertising or posting drive-by propaganda. You will be expected to comment on links you post. Violations risk being deleted. Please use descriptive subject lines to help us ensure that topics are in the right place.

8. Keep your URLs short to avoid page scrolling. If you are unable to accomplish this, please fee free to ask management for help.

9. Excessive profanity will not be tolerated
Excessive profanity will result in editing by the moderators, or the entire post being deleted, especially when it is directed at an individual without provocation. This will be examined on a case by case basis by Moderators and Administrators.

Uncivil speech, racial overtures, questionable sexual content, will no longer be tolerated. This is to include Nazi slogans, people giving the finger, or any picture that is not remotely resembling civil behavior. Name calling is also included within this prohibition. If you cannot make your point without being civil, then you are no longer welcome here.

10. Public posting of another's PM or message to the poster is forbidden without the approval of the person sending the message. It is a violation of another's privacy and respect, by hoping to embarrass them before others. If the person grants permission to post it, fine. If the message is derogatory or threatening, then report it to the management, and your report will be addressed by the staff. Keep private messages Private.

11. Credit all sources of non-original material
Failure to do so is considered plagiarism and will be deleted, unless corrected promptly.

12. The use of copyright material is allowed as long as it is 'fair use'. If you are going to quote from this, be sure to link to the article, so the original author is available and properly credited. Because of the tendency of important articles to disappear from the internet, it is ok to copy articles, as long as there is an honest attempt to cretid and link to the original work. In this manner, if the article does disappear, it will be on file.

13. Suspensions. Due to certain members taking unfair advantage of our quite liberal policy, suspensions and banning will be enforced more strictly. Suspensions will be used to give offending parties time to reflect upon their unsatisfactory behavior. The normal policy of suspension will be one week suspension for the first offense, two weeks for the second, and double the time for each violation thereof. Also, for any suspension over two weeks, the offending party will be placed on 'inactive' status until he/she has had an opportunity to secure parole from the Administrators.

Those, who attempt to return prior to their lifting of suspension will have their time doubled automatically.

14. The Posting of graphics that are too large for the current page will have them removed and a link provided in its place. Oversized frames make reading the page difficult, and will be removed if not downsized.

15. Reporting of Violations. When reporting a violation to the moderators, it is vital that you also provide the relating link, or links, within the complaint. It is impossible for the management to be everywhere. It is your responsibility to provide the necessary information.

16. Signature and Avatar guidelines. Signatures appear often on the page and are very prominent; when ugly they can have a very negative effect on the look and feel of the site. For this reason there are standards regarding size and content. Please limit the amount of text lines in your signature to a reasonable amount. This can and will be decided on a case by case basis by the administrators.

Signatures and Avatars cannot advocate violence, or contain profanity, nudity, insults to other members, or large banners.

Re: Posting Rules

Basically the same rules as IAP 2.0 and IAP 1.0.  I will edit as differences between this version and older ones becomes apparent.

Re: Posting Rules

You rock -- did you pull that from the old site? Or come up with on your own?
I need to get the legal agreement stuff in place upon registering before some libelous shit comes my way again.
